Kilo Summit is in the books, and the response has been more than we knew to hope for.
We wonʻt pretend it was easy. This past week asked for every bit of physical and mental rigor we had, and with everything moving at once and a turnout that kept coming, we were running on fumes by the end. Just like the collection it held, nothing about it was given and the path was never straight.
But something happened in that space. Kilo was a crease in the matrix. A moment to rethink and be intentional. A moment to simply be present and watch the patterns unfold. For those four days the rushing stopped (not literally) and the observing began.
We owe that to a lot of hands.
To Kūhaʻo and Zak, mahalo for the steadfast vision, and for the commitment to bridge practice and craft under one comprehensive experience. You held the horizon steady so the rest of us could chart towards it.
To the @kilo_summit team, Sheadon, Jenna, and Ramsey, mahalo for weathering the storm and steadying the ship. The brands, staff, volunteers, and everyone's Ohana, huge mahalo to you all, I wish I could have chatted more to get to know everyone's story. Everyone sees the calm water. Few see the ones holding the patterns.
To our fellow co-habitants, big hugs and aloha. The commitment it took leading up to, during, and as we closed was real. The impact of it may keep moving long after the content settles and the space come down.
And to everyone who braved the crowds and walked into our space with no expectations and left with a new calibration, mahalo. You are the reason any of it mattered. We are proud of the work it took to arrive at the piko of Kilo, and grateful to the organizers, the team, the volunteers, and most of all to you.
Mahalo. Mahalo. Mahalo.
This collection may have taken the better part of a year to build, but the truth is it took every second of twenty years to produce. We are proud to present Nothing Given, Nothing Gained, not only as a collection but as a framework for life. It is sacrifice. It is showing up when you donʻt feel like it. It is answering the call when it was never meant for you.
While youʻre on this dash, you try to leave it better than you found it. And when you get to the other side, you are greeted with respect and love for having done it the right way.
Mahalo for the past twenty years.
The path is never straight. Nothing given, nothing gained.
In addition to our scheduled release we will be dropping the following selected items from Kilo Summit to the public on Saturday, August 29, 2006 at 11AM. A separate release for the remaining items from the collection will be released at a later date.
