Aloha kākou!
This Saturday, we continue our seasonal delivery with the next release from our A/W Tradewinds Collection. Our natural tradewinds are unique and special to our islands, evoking a welcoming and affectionate reaction when they breeze through. Frequently described as a “natural air conditioner,” we not only look forward to the trades for the cool climate it brings, but also as a signal of calm and pleasant weather for outdoor activities such as surfing, fishing, or boating, which all heavily depend on great weather conditions.
For visual inspiration, we look to the old Hawaiian olelo noʻeau (proverb): “Ke kupu, o ka ʻaina ua malie, ua au koaʻe,” which translates to “The natives of the land declare that the weather is calm when the tropic bird travels afar.” The koaʻe (tropic bird) thus became symbolic as a sign of great weather when soaring far out at sea. Throughout the collection, there are numerous references to the koaʻe, along with nautical elements and climate map imagery, to help strengthen the overall aesthetic vision.
Two new patterns were created based on a climate map of the Pacific Ocean—TRDWND_EARTHBLUE and TRDWND_BLACKNIGHT—showing the wind direction as it flows during the hoʻoilo (wet) season in Hawaiʻi. We’ve also put extensive focus and care into our cut & sew program, introducing new pieces throughout the collection that are geared toward highly technical construction through our new TropTech tier, as well as premium lifestyle construction through our new OutFitted tier. And as usual, all items from this A/W Tradewinds Collection are limited in size and quantity and will not be reproduced.
Windward Snapback
This brand new design was created just for this season, with a tri-lock-stylized nautical symbol flag representing the letter F on the front and our Breezy logo boldly embroidered across the right side above the full set of nautical symbol flags spelling out the name FITTED. The base of the hat is a durable navy nylon material and features a kelly green undervisor, white snap enclosure, red side New Era logo, and a red and white crest on the back.
High Point Long-Sleeve Button Shirt – Green
Our High Point Button Shirt made its debut last season as a short-sleeve version for the summer weather, and is now making a return as a green and navy plaid long-sleeve for the cool winter weather. The High Point Button Shirt is crafted to high specifications with unique signature details, like the large off-set patterned tri-lock gusset on the back and smaller tri-lock side seam gussets at the contoured bottom hem. It’s made out of breathable 100% cotton woven jacquard and features a traditional buttoned collar and button-down front with soft-touch rubber-coated buttons which have Aloha Served Daily engraved on the edges. The High Point Button Shirt also features a left chest pocket with embroidered koaʻe artwork and a tri-lock spec patch below the pocket near the bottom hem.
Breezy Tee – Black, Heather Grey, White, or Red
A new logo tee befitting our A/W Tradewinds collection, featuring the new Breezy logo printed large on the front, which depicts FITTED in an italicized font, along with motion lines and a small koaʻe (tropic bird) at the front. On the back is a crown sitting atop our crest logo and our seasonal logo which is comprised of the letter F, a stylized nautical F symbol flag, and the coordinates of Kou in ancient Hawaiʻi, one of the original names for the city of Honolulu.
