Aloha kākou!
We are incredibly proud and honored to announce a collaboration with our close friends and true ambassadors of Aloha—THE GREEN. The limited run snapback will release tomorrow, February 9, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the band’s genesis, officially forming on February 9, 2010.
An all-around essential, the FITTED for The Green snapback features a black 100% cotton ripstop base with white embroidery all around, including The Green’s signature logo on the front. A hae Hawaiʻi/ASD tag is stitched to the white snap enclosure around back, with the most stand-out feature showing up in the satin lining—custom artwork created by frequent band collaborator, friend, and famed local artist Kamea Hadar (@kameahadar).
From Ola:
Imagine referencing the summer of 2011 every time "Alive" is played because you just couldn’t shake that rhythm out of your head, or when “Good One” pops on your Spotify playlist and you immediately remember that fling you met at The Shack over the winter break of 2013 while home from college. How about that one time you and the crew loaded up the coolers and headed to the country for a party only to realize when pulling up, the house is raging cause The Green is playing live! Through the good times and hard times it seems you can reference nostalgia through the rhythmic and soulful vocals of THE GREEN boys! To think they have been smashing hit after hit for 10 years is an incredible accomplishment, but I think the benefit is purely for the listener. Music has a way of loosening inhibitions, bracketing time, unlocking memories, evoking deep feelings of love and insecurities, but above all I always use music to learn about myself. We are blessed with pleasant memories because of their hard work and dedication to their craft, and for that we are thankful. Mahalo, mahalo, mahalo to THE GREEN for creating the soundtrack of these islands and amplifying it beyond these shores for the past 10 years! Truly elevating quality and the rhythms of these island!!
From The Greenʻs bio:
Since forming on O’ahu, Hawai’i, in 2009, The Green has become one of the most successful and beloved bands in the reggae genre. During their relatively short career, the band has been awarded a Best Reggae Album nod from iTunes (2010, for their self-titled debut), five coveted Na Hoku Hanohano awards in their native Hawai’i (2011 and 2014, including Group of the Year, three different Reggae Albums of the Year and Entertainer of the Year), and 3 #1 Billboard Reggae chart debuts, along with charting on the Billboard Top 200. Not bad for a band that was formed by six members of Hawai’i’s tight-knit music scene to record a few songs and have some fun.
The Green was one of the first Hawaii reggae bands to tour extensively on the mainland, as well as going further afield to New Zealand, Japan, and other locales. Before becoming a headliner on their own, the band supported bands like Bruno Mars, Damian Marley, Rebelution, Iration, and SOJA, as well as performed at acclaimed festivals including Vans Warped Tour, Life Is Beautiful. One Love Cali Reggae Festival, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, and California Roots Festival to name a few.
Quote from Billboard:
The Green’s powerful sonic identity fuses late 1970s-era dub-heavy roots reggae (reminiscent of English bands like Aswad and Steel Pulse) with strands of contemporary rock/pop/R&B and sporadic indigenous Hawaiian musical and lyrical references. That appealing synthesis has catapulted The Green to the forefront of Hawaii’s thriving reggae scene.
Mahalo The Green for keeping our ears fed, hearts filled and feet firmly planted in Hawaiʻi no matter where we are!
