Releasing tomorrow, April 5th
Aloha kakou!
Thank you to everyone who came through this weekend for our parking lot sale / Vans 2.0 release. Tomorrow we're releasing our Hawai'i 1978 t-shirt which is a salute and nod to what is considered one of Hawai'i's greatest recordings, Hawai'i 1978. For many Hawaiians and locals, it's a song that conjures up both pride and sorrow, as the song speaks to the heart of the people, asking what our ancestors would think and/or how'd they feel if they were around to see our entire culture, land and history stripped from us. From the expansion and construction of highways over sacred burial grounds to the blood shed in battles that ultimately led to our monarchy being overthrown. I'm sure everyone who grew up with this song can relate to the lyrics and still gets chills til this day. The shirt, printed on white, features a repeating pattern of the words Hawai'i 1978 in red, gold, green and black. Also releasing with the tee are 5 custom MLBs: St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, LA Dodgers, Philadelphia Athletics and Baltimore Orioles.
If just for a day our king and queen
Would visit all these islands and saw everything
How would they feel, 'bout the changing of our land
