Aloha kākou!
After many months of design and production, we are proud to announce our brand new Kahakai Walk Short, utilizing official MultiCam® camouflage. The name “Kahakai” means “beach” or “shore” in Hawaiian—significant as it's the place where land and sea meet and overlap, which speaks to the versatility of the walk short as it can be used in wet or dry environments.
Custom engineered from the ground up, we developed the Kahakai Walk Short with premium materials and built them to our exact speficiations, down to the very last detail. We sought out two specific MultiCam® patterns—the MultiCam Tropic™ and MultiCam Black™—to help bring our vision to life. See below for MultiCam®’s descriptions on its proprietary patterns:
The MultiCam Tropic™ pattern was developed to effectively reduce the visual and near-IR signature of a person operating in dense jungle environments, areas that predominantly consist of lush vegetation that remains relatively unaffected by seasonal changes. The MultiCam Tropic™ palette compliments and overlaps portions of the main MultiCam® pattern; so pairing MultiCam® gear with MultiCam Tropic™ apparel results in a well-coordinated concealment system.
The MultiCam Black™ pattern was developed to meet the unique requirements of law enforcement officers operating in high-risk environments. It projects a distinctly authoritative presence appropriate for domestic operations. MultiCam Black™ is designed to complement an officer’s existing equipment and present a sharp, professional image for top-tier law enforcement units.
The material of the Kahakai Walk Short is a high-quality, military-grade 50/50 NYCO rip-stop (50% nylon, 50% cotton) sourced from Duro Textiles, a Boston-based company that prides itself on their USA-grown and USA-woven textiles. The fabric was then cut and sewn together here in Hawaiʻi using our own sizing specifications, and a bevy of details were added as a final touch. Starting from the top we have an elastic waistband and drawstring for a snug fit. Attached to the inside waistband are two care labels, one in English and one in Hawaiian, with a 10-kahili design on the back to denote our 10 years in the business. A sizing spec label is seen stitched to the back of the waistband as well. On the front we went with a button fly, which is standard issue in the military. Two traditional side pockets are also seen on the front, while one right side pocket is seen on the back. On the right seam, just below the front pocket opening, we placed our new trilock tag with the FITTED crest, ʻio morale patch, and “ASD,” “04,” and “116” stitched on. Above the back pocket we stitched a Mil-Spec label, and above that we placed a keyring loop in the same rip-stop material.
The Kahakai Walk Short will be available in four sizes per color, Small (27–30), Medium (30–33), Large (33–36), and X-Large (36–40). Because the fabric we sourced was discontinued soon after we acquired the first batch, we were only able to produce a small amount and they’ll only be available in-store. They will be strictly distributed on a first come, first served basis. No holds or discounts.
