Aloha kākou!
We have a special Thursday release this week, making available four of the tees we released during the special In The Southern Sun art installation in Waikiki. The pop-up shop-branded tees come in black with white print, vintage black teal print, gold with black print, and neon purple with red print. See Ola’s moʻolelo below and go check out In The Southern Sun if you haven’t yet!
“Parcel” carries two meanings that guide this release. A parcel can be a package in motion being shipped, handled, exchanged. It also represents a parcel of land, a defined place that holds history, value, and responsibility. Here in Hawaii we call these spaces Wahi pana ( Legendary spaces)
Waikīkī kai has always been such a place. For generations it has been a place of rest, recovery, abundance, and gathering. It was home to high chiefs and their ʻāina; Helumoa, Hamohamo, Uluniu, Kaluaokau, and ʻĀinahau. More than personal territory; these were spaces that carried stories, responsibilities, and lifeways. While Waikīkī may look different today, we believe it remains one of the most special spaces in the world!
The graphic for “Parcel” honors both definitions. On the front, we map out the ʻili of Waikīkī, a reminder that the sand under our feet still holds a story. On the back, shipping symbols call out care, reciprocity, and exchange. Together they ask us to think about what it means to arrive, to take part, and to give back.
Waikīkī is not just a destination, it’s a living space. Don’t just eat here. Clean up. Participate. Respect.
