Aloha kākou!
Tomorrow, we continue our Summer Solstice Capsule release by recognizing one of Hawaiʻi's most fascinating native inhabitants.
Our FULL TILT Tee returns with new short and long sleeve colorways, carrying forward a story inspired by the Summer Solstice. For Hawaiʻi, where the rhythm of the seasons is more subtle than elsewhere, the solstice is less about changing weather and more about appreciating the abundance of light that surrounds us. It's a reminder to spend more time outside, in the ocean, in the mountains, and with the people who make this place home.
At the center of the artwork is the Hawaiian happy-face spider (Theridion grallator), one of Hawaiʻi' most remarkable endemic species. Found only within Hawaiʻi's native forests, this tiny spider is known for the smile-like markings that appear on its abdomen. No two are exactly alike, making each one a small reminder of the individuality and diversity that evolved in one of the most isolated island chains on Earth.
Despite its playful appearance, the happy-face spider also reflects something much deeper. Long before modern materials, spiders were admired by Native Hawaiians for their extraordinary ability to weave. Their intricate webs inspired the craftsmanship behind finely woven fishing nets along with tools that sustained generations through patience, skill, and observation of the natural world. Even the smallest creatures held lessons for those willing to pay attention.
Surrounding the spider is our planet, with Hawaiʻi resting proudly in the heart of the Pacific between the Tropic of Cancer and the Equator. It serves as a reminder that while these islands may seem small on a map, they have long been a center of exploration, navigation, and cultural ingenuity. Above us, the stars guided voyaging canoes across thousands of miles of open ocean. Around us, every native plant and animal tells a story found nowhere else on Earth.
The Full Tilt graphic brings these ideas together of sunlight, exploration, craftsmanship, and the unique life that calls Hawaiʻi home. It celebrates the season not only for its warmth, but for what it invites us to do: stay outside a little longer, appreciate the natural world a little more, and remember that some of the greatest stories can come from the smallest things.
The short sleeve tee colorways will be available in gold and beige while the long sleeve tee colorways will be available in black and ash.
