Aloha kākou!
Q-Tip, Phife Dawg (RIP), Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White made up one of the most influential hip-hop groups in history—A Tribe Called Quest—out of Queens, NY. As iconic as their voice and sound was, their imagery was equally iconic, with most of their album covers donning a female figure covered in a red and green striped pattern, unofficially named “Bonita” by fans, after their popular track “Bonita Applebum.”
This Tuesday, we’re releasing a classic from our archive called Tribe Called Fitted, as an ode to one of our favorite hip-hop groups, and it features the iconic imagery with our twist on the name, printed on a black tee.
Alongside the tee, we have three matching New Era hats—a UH 59FIFTY, a Kulāiwi 59FIFTY, and a Mua snapback. The UH 59FIFTY features a red crown, black visor, and black top button, along with green, white, and black stitching on the front and back, and white stitching on the side. The Kulāiwi 59FIFTY features a black base with a kelly green undervisor and white eyelets, along with white stitching on the front and back, and green stitching on the side. The Mua snapback features black 100% polyester dashmark fabric for the base, with red, yellow, green, black, and white embroidery on the front, white embroidery on the side and back, and a white snap closure in the back.
