Releasing Saturday, April 20th.
The time has finally arrived! We know, we know. It's been nearly two years since we originally announced our collaboration with Aloha Got Soul, run by part-time skater-in-slacks-and-dress-shoes and full time hardcore digger Roger Bong. The mix, titled Hawaiian Salt, was originally inspired by triple-OG-digger DJ Muro's mixed CD, Hawaiian Breaks, with each track hand selected by Roger. Clocking in at exactly 1:16:00 (get it?), the mix runs 27-tracks deep with selections that run the gamut from heavy funk to light jazz; all created by locals in Hawaiʻi. "Local Made, Local Played" is the motto. Our goal with this project is to 1: Educate those who may have never experienced or heard these amazing slabs of Hawaiian funk, soul, jazz and rare groove and 2: Let those who may remember these songs reminisce on the good ol' days and lastly, but most importantly, let those overseas in the continental US and abroad know that even though we are extremely isolated from the US mainland, we were able to take the influence of the US genres and create something with our own twist spun to it.
The pack consists of a custom Aloha Got Soul t-shirt which features the project's artwork on the front within the FITTED crest, printed on all black with tonal (black-on-black) Aloha Got Soul printed on the sleeve as well as the back. For every person that purchases the shirt, you'll receive a free copy of the mix (which you can stream below. Please note: for online orders, it's on a strict numbers basis).
