Entitled “Lau Nui” (Many Leaves) and based off the leaves of the kalo plant, this pattern is seen repeating horizontally, mimicking the rows in any loʻi kalo. Among its many uses, the lau is an essential ingredient in lūʻau stew that locals and visitors (if lucky enough to try) love to let do backflips on their alelo (tongue).
