Lawelawe is defined as to perform, and although it can be used in various different contexts, the context we're using it in is to perform in the sense of entertainment; more specifically to perform hula. It's our way of showing appreciation to an artform that is helping to keep Hawaiian culture thriving, and one artform that they can never take away from us.
