“Kuli Kuli” is a turn of phrase that may not be as prevalent to hear these days, but it’s one that was uttered in almost any local house hold back in the hanabata days. Roughly translated, it means to “Cool it / Be quiet / Keep still.” To put it simply, it was used as an effortless way to tell one to “Shut up”, kindly.
