Long before Hawaiʻi became what the world recognizes today, the mahiole stood as one of the most distinguished symbols of Hawaiian chiefly authority. Worn by the aliʻi, these elaborate feathered helmets represented far more than protection or adornment. They were expressions of rank, mana, and a deeply rooted cultural identity. To understand the mahiole is to understand the extraordinary relationship between our people, our natural environment, and the traditions that shaped a sovereign society. Constructed from the woven rootlets of the ʻieʻie vine, reinforced with olonā fiber, and adorned with carefully gathered feathers of native Hawaiian birds, each mahiole was a remarkable achievement of pure craftsmanship....

Home Grown has always belonged to the latter. For tomorrow's release, we're reaching back into both Hawaiʻi's musical history and our own archives with the return of our HOME GROWN TEE, this time printed on Ivy. The artwork may be familiar with the flowing Home Grown script, the pair of brightly colored hibiscus and the unmistakable visual language of an old Hawaiʻi record jacket—but there's a much deeper story behind it. That story takes us back to the 1970s. The decade marked an important period of cultural reawakening throughout Hawaiʻi....

Tomorrow's release keeps things simple with the return of one of the most recognizable patterns within the FITTED archive. Long before it became a recurring pattern across our tees, headwear, accessories, and an essential part of our identity, the Trilock was rooted in the triangle. Within our visual language, those triangular forms have often referenced the teeth of the niuhi. These niuhi were the sharks that have long carried significance throughout Hawaiʻi. In past collections, we've taken those same forms and repeated, layered, enlarged, and reworked them into something that has become distinctly FITTED. But the strength of the Trilocks has always been in the repetition....

Our FASI graphic returns this Tuesday on a charcoal tee, giving one of our longstanding designs a darker, more muted treatment.
Inspired by Honolulu’s past and the unmistakable visual language surrounding the Frank Fasi era, the graphic has become one of those FITTED pieces we continue to revisit. Available tomorrow our FASI TEE will be available in CHARCOAL.
